Pupil Attainment and Progress

Attainment

All pupil’s attainment at the end of Key Stage One and Two at Hedgewood during the academic year 2018/19 are assessed against the final Pre-Key Stage standards using teacher assessment judgements. It should be noted that judgements made against these pre-key stage standards will not be directly comparable to those made up to 2017/18 against the interim pre-key stage standards and P scales.

Pupils at the end of KS1 and KS2 that are not working on subject specific study are assessed against P scales 1-4. For those pupils working from P5 upwards the pre-Key Stage One standards 1 to 4 apply, and the pre- Key Stage 2 standards 1 to 6 apply.

Pupils within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are assessed against the EYFS profile as a summative assessment.

Phonics testing is carried out where appropriate both at Year 1 and Year 2.

Progress

Pupil progress across the school is measured for each pupil from their individual starting point in core subjects and reported in English, Maths and Science. There is also a targeted focus on developing communication, personal independence and social communication and interaction skills in line with many of our pupils’ challenges associated with their diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum condition.

Pupil progress targets are closely linked to the outcomes on each pupils Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP) and are broken down into pupils termly Personal Curriculum Plans to ensure maximum progress over time is achieved. These plans are reviewed and shared with parents to ensure progress is meaningful both within and outside school life, with the aim of all pupils achieving future wellbeing through relevant learning for life
