MEDICAL

We are able to administer prescribed medication that is in date, in the original container which is clearly marked with the dosage, to support pupils and parents. We do require clarification and written permission, so please contact the school first. We prefer all such medication to be delivered by parents or passed to us via the coach passenger assistants.

The school is experienced in the care of children with a range of medical problems including anaphylaxis, diabetes, epilepsy and asthma, or who require tube-feeding or support with oxygen.

It is essential that we are kept updated on any allergies that your child may suffer from.

We have half-termly visits from an allocated School Nurse, who is based at Minet Clinic, telephone number 01895484830.  If you have anything you might want her to consider, please contact the school.

PERSONAL CARE

If your child needs a Personal Care Plan (PCP) for regular changing please provide a regular stock of wet wipes and pull-ups/nappies.

HOLIDAYS AND ABSENCE

Parents are asked not to take holidays in term time. Holidays will only be authorised if there are exceptional family circumstances and at the discretion of the Headteacher. Any such requests require you to write a letter to the Headteacher giving at least two weeks notice.

In the instance of family emergencies, which may result in pupil absence, please let Mr Goddard know as soon as possible. School work will be provided for children whilst on leave.

A copy of the school Attendance Policy is available on our website, hedgewood.org or a copy can be requested from the School Office.

If your child is unwell and is unable to attend school, please contact the School Office, as soon as possible.

Homework is given at the discretion of the class teacher, however, parents can request homework if appropriate.

During times of adverse weather conditions, a “snow pack” will be provided so that your child is able to be educated off-site.

REPORTING

We understand how important it is for you to know how your child is progressing throughout the school year, so we send you the following reports in order that you receive regular updates on your child’s learning.

ANNUAL REVIEWS (AR’s)

Every family has an Annual Review meeting in the course of the academic year. You will receive a report at least two weeks in advance of the meeting, which will include embedded progress data.

INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLANS (ILP’s)

Individual Learning Plans are sent to you twice a year, so that you can see the targets that have been set for your child. You similarly receive two reviewed ILP’s during the year, so that you know how your child is progressing against their targets.
